Casein paint

The casein painting technique, also known as milk paint, is simple to make yourself. Besides, the paint you make using fresh casein, is shining, water-resistant and much more solid than commercial equivalents that often chip. And, it's even cheaper too. Here is a typical recipe:

Casein powder
1
Water 5
Caustic agent in powder form

Water 5

You will need casein powder, a caustic agent (sodium hydroxide, lime or ammonia hydrogen carbonate), dry pigments, and glass containers to prepare the paint.
