Mylar paper is a polyester film, so it does not contain cotton. The different types of Mylar are used in various fields: packaging and storage for the food industry, laser cutting, stencil making, decorative arts and fine arts.

The Mylar used for drawing usually has a finely textured and "frosted" surface to ensure that inks or other water-based materials adhere better.
Psychics don’t penetrate paper, they’re just fixed to the surface. Attention must therefore be paid to the handling of your drawing, because the flexibility of the paper can “break” the films of aqueous media, such as acrylic inks and inks. You can also print on Mylar paper only with an ink-jet printer – never laser.

Mylar paper comes with a matte coating on one or both sides. It is also available in different thicknesses: . 003” and . 004” sheet, and . 003”, . 004”, . 005” and . 007” roll.

The Mylar paper is not completely transparent, it remains rather foggy – allowing the same drawing to be worked on two sides.

Do not confuse Mylar paper with vellum paper (vellum) which has similar characteristics, but it is an acid-free cotton paper.
